Voting in elections through your Mobile(mvoting)

Mobile communication systems of today provide increased availability, miniaturization and enhanced data rates. This emergence is expected to enhance the deployment of mobile systems in many services. One area of activity is mobile Election (one of the first areas of transaction using mobile devices).

With long lines expected at polling for any elections, many young and less young voters may be wondering today “why couldn't I vote with my mobile phone”? Wouldn’t that be easier than taking time-off and fighting the crowd? After all, the younger generation is already used to shopping mobile, paying mobile and even voting via SMS for many entertainment series or opinion surveys… so why not mobile voting ensure a fair election?

In a country(India) where over 800 million people are eligible to vote and more than half that number have mobile phones (600 million according TRAI data).

In this regard Mobile technology-IVR can be used for election polling. A Person will need to call a Number authorized by the Election Committee. First the person will be evaluated. Asking for the biometric election card number. An algorithm may be implemented for security reasons. Once the person is authorized, he can continue with the polling process. After that IVR will play the various parties contesting in elections. Based on the User inputs, polling will be recorded. User inputs can either be DTMF or Speech Recognition.
